UNM to introduce Tony Hillerman project

UNM to introduce Tony Hillerman project

The University of New Mexico is set to unveil an electronic portal containing the works of the late Tony Hillerman.

Hillerman donated his manuscripts, papers and notes to the library in 2005.

UNM officials say that given Hillerman's stature in New Mexico literary culture, the collection will be a great resource for the local community as well as scholars from other institutions. The intiative is in its first phase; more manuscripts will be added over the course of three years according to the university.

Patricia Campbell of the Dean's office says, "Everyone knows who Tony Hillerman is, and when you access the information, you can see how much work was put into his writing."

University Libraries recieved an anonymous donation in 2011 that helped fund the project.

Showing of the new portal will take place Friday, June 14, at 5:30 pm inside Zimmerman Library.
