Marisco’s Altamar’s spectacular seafood Mexican-style. It’s Friday night at Marisco’s Altamar. The room is filled with light, noise and warmth; families are celebrating birthdays around tables for 20; and a tall man in a maroon suit plucks a tiny guitar while an 11-year old girl named Mayela sings her plaintive heart out. A lovely young lady offers a greeting in Spanish and graciously seats you at a table decked with linen cloth and fresh flowers…You may be out here at 1517 Coors Road, N.W., 1/2 Mile South of I40, but it feels like you’ve walked into another country.

Joan Logghe might well use the name as the title of a book of poetry…At Marisco’s Altamar, active seafood wall Liquid Crystal Displays create a tasteful, yet very colorful and pleasant environment to dine on Aztec painting custom designed tables, seafood is the specialty, the food is Northern Mexico style, and Spanish is the first language. Owner Hector Hernandez, originally of Durango, Mexico, lovingly oversees every detail and says people from El Paso, Santa Fe and Colorado stop in regularly – and no wonder. The word has traveled far and wide.
