Former APD officer indicted by grand jury on prostitution charges
News

Matthew Kindle, a former Albuquerque Police Department officer, was indicted by a grand jury on Friday.

According to a criminal complaint, Kindle faces several charges including rape, promoting prostitution and bribery after he visited an undercover officer posing as a prostitute at hotel in August.

Kindle reportedly used his lunch break to visit the hotel.

Court documents indicate he exposed and touched himself in front of the undercover officer.

The sting was set up after Kindle allegedly told a former female APD officer he could get rid of some pending charges against her in exchange for sexual favors, according to the criminal complaint.

Kindle was fired from APD in September.

In 2008, Kindle’s name was part of an investigation into the Albuquerque online prostitution ring, “Private Ice.”

Police said there was not enough evidence to tie Kindle to organization at the time.
