Redistricting Committee considers proposals | News
According to the Huning Highland Historic District Neighborhood Association website, the Redistricting Committee selected 8 maps on Oct. 14 to recommend to City Council. Plans Q, L, and V were the top 3 maps with the most votes by the Committee. The top two ranked maps, Q and L, both move D3 entirely to the West Side. Map V, currently Councilor Diane Benton's preferred map, preserves D3 in the center city and instead moves D7 to the West Side, redistributing that population into the other surrounding Heights districts.
City Council will receive the recommendations at the Nov. 7 Council meeting. Next week, a schedule for the next phase of redistricting will be made. The proposed plans can be viewed on the city’s website.
